Got Questions? We've Got Answers!
What is a handwriting font and what can it do for me?
A handwriting font is a set of characters made from your OWN handwriting (or someone else's handwriting). You can use these unique fonts in a variety of ways — from printables like sublimation to cuttables like vinyl, Infusible Ink, and paper crafts to create personalized and unique projects. They are very useful for creating family heirlooms, such as family recipes, as well as custom projects!
But I don't have great handwriting. Will my font look bad?
Your handwriting is unique to you! That said, Jennifer will share tips on how to get the BEST version of your handwriting into your font. She'll even share tips on how to change up your handwriting for fun results. This workshop will ENHANCE your handwriting! Anyone can make a fun font from their own handwriting.
Why should I enroll in a workshop rather than watch a YouTube video or read a blog tutorial?
This in-depth workshop is designed for those who feel they need a little extra help understanding how to design, download, and print Canva designs. You can ask questions and feel confident that you'll get help here! This workshop is also great for those who enjoy learning from Jennifer's easy-to-understand, calm, and clear method of teaching. This is a no-fluff, no-mess, no-distraction workshop ... it's like sitting down with Jennifer in her craft room to learn directly from her!
How long is the workshop?
The workshop is split into seven lesson videos that are approximately two hours in total — I teach you the software to make several custom handwriting fonts, how to use the font you make to create designs, and how to use those designs to make three projects. You can watch all or skip to just the parts that interest you. There's also a Q&A session.
Is this a live workshop?
No, the information is all available to watch on-demand so you can pause, rewind, and go at your own pace.
Do I have to have to use Facebook for this workshop?
No. All videos, workbooks, files, and resources are stored in the Workshop Area in our Teachable school system, which does not share a login with Facebook. However, you should note that the Facebook group is a great place to learn from others in the workshop.
What equipment do I need?
What software do I need?
For this workshop, you just need a free web browser, such as Google Chrome. You'll also use Calligraphr, a browser-based application — you can use either the Free or Pro version (Jennifer will demonstrate with the free version to keep the workshop accessible for all). You will also learn to create a font in Silhouette Studio Business Edition.
What supplies do I need?
If you want to write out your font by hand, you'll need a black pen and some plain white paper. No other supplies are needed if you just want to make the font and use it on your computer or device. If you'd like to turn your designs into projects, Jennifer demonstrates how to make a sublimation potholder, an Infusible Ink mug, and an iron-on vinyl pillow during the workshop. You can make one or all of these projects — a full supply list is available after you enroll to help you find items.
Do you just teach fonts?
No, Jennifer will also show you how to design with your font in Cricut Design Space, and how to press the designs onto a potholder, a mug, and a pillowcase using sublimation, Infusible Ink, and iron-on vinyl with complete step-by-step directions from start to finish.
Will this workshop teach me to make SVG cut files?
In a way, yes, because your font can be used to create cuttable designs, which are demonstrated during the workshop. But they won't be traditional SVG cut files, no.
Will this workshop teach me everything there is to know about fonts?
No, this workshop focuses on creating a font from your own handwriting, not how to create fonts in other ways. I will explain how to include something beyond simple letters and numbers in your fonts, however.
I am new to sublimation and/or my Cricut cutting machine. Will this help?
Yes, because I'm including my Sublimation Startup and Cricut Kickoff mini-courses as bonuses for enrolling in the Canva Creative workshop. I recommend you do those first before you attend the workshop so it makes more sense to you!
Do I need a sublimation printer or a Cricut to take this workshop?
No, this workshop can be completed without either machine. You can make a font and simply use it on your computer or device without ever making a craft with it! If you wish to make designs with your fonts, however, you'll want a sublimation printer (for sublimation projects) and/or a cutting machine (for iron-on vinyl and/or Infusible Ink designs).
Can I sell the projects I make in this workshop?
Yes!
Is there a coupon for this workshop?
No, as this workshop is already discounted to be affordable without any coupons needed.
I got a VIP Pass from you. Is this included?
No, VIP Passes are sold for specific events, such as Maker Academy Weekend and other events with multiple sessions. VIP Passes include only the workshops presented during that one event, not workshops presented in any other event or presented individually. If you'd like to take this workshop, please register for it separately.
What is your refund policy?
We have a 30-day happiness guarantee! If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, contact me within 30 days of your enrollment and I will give you a full refund. Please view my refund policy here for more details.
Will I be able to ask questions?
Yes! You can post in our Facebook group and/or email us directly!
Jennifer Maker's workshops and tutorials are some of the best available. Her instructions are clear and easy to follow. She even includes mistakes so we all can learn from them. Her upbeat personality makes it easy to listen and follow along. — Sondra Bryson
I would have never opened my box if I hadn’t first watched JenniferMaker videos and seen her ideas and passion for helping others. I can’t imagine the money, time and frustration I have saved because Jennifer already made those mistakes and learning curve for me. Because of her I see the capabilities that my machine has. She’s so ingenious! — Mikki Ashton
I consider myself an advanced crafter but I was very intimidated by my Maker. The good news is I invested in the Workbook and now I am a master of my machine! If I need to know how to do something, I just refer to her instructions. They are one pagers, very succinct and understandable. Throw any doubts away and join the club! — Barbara Shook
